The Bassbreakers are interesting amplifiers as they take classic Fender circuits and convert them to a more rock focused design. Think what could have happened in the 60’s if Fender had gone down this completely different tonal journey. The 007 is the smallest in the line but don’t think that this isn't a pro piece of kit as for home and studio use this is a great choice.
One Channel, From Clean to Crushing
The idea behind the 007 is that it has one channel and can get everything between crystal cleans to incredible high gain rock tones. This means you can either set it up as a wonderful pedal board rig using the cleaner settings or launch into an all in one tone machine where your guitars volume sets the gain.
Fender have even included a footswitchable treble boost circuit that gives your tone the perfect push into feedback lead tones. No matter how you are using this amplifier having the ability to boost the gain at a moment’s notice is so useful for live and home use.
Stage, Studio and Beyond
Rated at 7 watts you may not be able to rock up to all of your gigs and get the sound you are looking for without using a mic. However if you can mic up then you have an easily portable and incredibly versatile rig that does have a surprising amount of punch to it.
For studio work you have the option of using the ¼” line out as well as using a mic. Run this line out to a cab simulator and in to your DAW for great quality late night recording. This works great at home as well but with 7 watts of power it is entirely possible to play this amp without annoying the neighbours.
Here's what Fender say about the Bassbreaker 007 1x10" Combo
Bassbreaker series guitar amplifiers continue Fender's storied lineage with a kind of "parallel evolution" that evokes the dawn of hard rock. Bassbreaker breaks away from tradition with features that add up to pure tube greatness.
Powerful and unpretentious, the Bassbreaker 007 packs quite a punch for its size. Fueled by a pair of 12AX7 preamp tubes and a single EL84 power tube for 7 watts of true Class-A amplification, the Bassbreaker 007 features traditional gain and tone controls, and an interesting option- switchable vintage-style treble booster for increased overdrive and added harmonics. Higher gain settings of the 007 are just plain fun, but never mask the dynamics and identity of the guitar. The onboard 1/4" line output connects directly to recording gear or a larger amp. Bold visual touches include block Fender logo, dark grey lacquered tweed covering, leatherette handle and big, bold pointer knobs.
Loaded with complex, refined sound, the agile Bassbreaker 007 provides delectable crunch that's shaken, not stirred. Add the optional booster footswitch and protective amp cover to complete this globe-hopping ensemble.
